A Chair and driftwood 부목(浮木)이고 싶다

오랫만에 찾은 루미 아일랜드 해안에서

문득 내 시선을 끄는 것은

오른쪽 다리가 없는 낡은 철제 의자.

누군가가 철제 의자의 오른쪽 모서리를

부목 위에 올려서 안정시켜 놓았다.

한 쪽 다리가 없어도 앉을 수 있도록.

인생의 해안에서 사람들은 저마다 상흔을 안고 산다.

정신적으로 정서적으로 다리를 잃고서.

그래서 늘 흔들리고 기우뚱 거린다.

너의 부목이고 싶다.

다리를 받쳐 주는 튼튼한 부목이고 싶다.

삶이 평안하도록, 흔들리지 않게 받쳐주는 듬직한 부목이고 싶다.

A Chair and Driftwood

In the beach of Lummi Island which I visit once in a while

I saw an old chair sitting beside driftwood.

It was a chair that didn’t have its right leg.

 

Someone put the right front of chair on the driftwood

In order to stabilize it,

And to be able to sit on the chair.

 

There are many who have scars in the beach of life.

They lost their right or left legs in the mind and hearts.

Therefore they are shaking and swaying endlessly.

 

I’d like to be your driftwood, helping you sitting over me.

I’d like to be a strong driftwood, keeping you in the waves of life.

I’d like to be a reliable driftwood, holding you in the winds of existence.
